Conditional fields are fields that appear dynamically based on the response given to a previous question.
Extremely useful for segmenting your contacts, this feature declutters your forms visually and streamlines the user experience!
1. Create the Main Field (Trigger) 🛠️
To get started, create the initial field whose answer will trigger the display of subsequent questions.
⚠️ Important: This main field must be configured as one of the following field types:
- Checkbox group
- Dropdown list
- Radio group
- Country list
2. Add a Dependent Field ➕
Once your main field is created, a new option will appear directly beneath it.
Click the + Add a field based on selected value button, then select the type of field you want to display (text field, date, email, etc.).
3. Configure the Display Conditions ⚙️
The creation window for your new field will open. It includes a specific tab called Condition. This is where you define the display rules for this secondary field:
- Including / Excluding: Choose whether the field should appear when the value is selected ("including") or when it is not selected ("excluding").
- Select Values: Specify exactly which answer(s) should trigger the field (for example, only if the contact selects "Yes" or "No").
- Any value: Toggle this option if you want the field to appear as soon as any answer is provided in the main field, regardless of the selected value.
Once configured and saved, this field will appear within your form structure as a dependent field linked to the main field. Repeat this process as many times as needed!
Practical Example 🏂
Imagine a form for a winter sports resort asking for requested equipment.
Main Question: Sport practiced (Radio buttons: Ski / Snowboard)
Conditional Fields:
- If the answer is Ski ➡️ The form displays the "Requested equipment" field with the options: Skis, Helmet, Boots, Poles.
- If the answer is Snowboard ➡️ The form displays the "Requested equipment" field with the options: Board, Boots, Helmet.
This way, the main answer dynamically adapts the rest of your form! ✨
