In Webmecanik Automation, exporting contacts is centralized and optimized. Currently, there is only one recommended method: creating a report π.
This approach gives you total flexibility over the exact data you want to extract. Here is how to do it, step by step.
Β
1. Create the Export Report π οΈ
To get started, you need to set up a new report dedicated to your contacts:
- Go to the Reports menu in the left sidebar, then click the purple New button at the top right.
- In the main tab, name your report (for example: "Global Export") and select Contacts from the Data sources drop-down menu.
2. Select the Data to Export ποΈ
This is where you choose which specific fields will appear in your final file:
- Click on the Data tab.
- In the Columns section, add or remove the fields you wish to include in your export.
- Keep in mind that the left column shows the available fields, while the right column contains the fields selected for your report.
3. Filter your export by Segment (Optional) π―
If you do not want to export your entire database, you can easily restrict your report to a targeted audience using a filter.
- Still in the Data tab, scroll down to the Filters section and click on Add a filter.
- Select the Segment column, choose the equals condition, and then select the desired segment from the value drop-down list.
- π Need extra help with this step? Feel free to check out our complete documentation: How do I report on contact segments.
4. Set the Date Range (Crucial Step β οΈ)
Once your columns are chosen, save and close the report editor. Before downloading your file, pay close attention to the date filter:
- On the report view, you will see a date picker with From and To fields.
- π‘ Essential information: The date range specified here applies strictly to the creation date of the contacts.
- If you want to export your entire database without exception, make sure to set the start date far enough in the past to encompass the creation of your very first contacts.
Once the correct date range is set, simply use the standard export button to download your file in your preferred format (CSV, Excel, etc.) and start leveraging your data! π
