It is now mandatory to ask people's consent to send emails to them. This is called the opt-in.
When contacts gave their consent, it can be useful to make them confirm their email address. Sending emails on validated email address will increase the deliverability rate by avoiding the maximum of bounces contacts. This is the role of the double opt-in.
How to do double opt-in with Webmecanik Automation ?
Let's see two different way
First method
- Please refer to the Opt-in article for the first part.
- Create a confirmed Opt-in segment.
- Create a landing page that will be used for the validation. Contacts will land on this landing page after clicking on the link of the email.
- Create a new campaign email that will be sent as an Opt-in email. In this email, add a link that will redirect contact to the landing page previously created. To redirect to the landing page, use the landing page token {pagelink=ID} in the hypertext link.
- Create a campaign. Choose the Opt-in segment (created in the Opt-in article)that will start the campaign.
- Send the Opt-in email.
- Add a decision "Visits a page" and choose the landing page created.
- On the positive branch, add the action "Modify contact's segments".
- Add contacts into the confirmed opt-in segment.
Below what the campaign looks like:
2nd method
- Create an pending opt-in segment.
- Create a second confirmed opt-in segment.
These 2 segments will be used to organise opt-in contacts and contact that still are not opt-in. The objective is to transfer pending opt-in contact to the confirmed list.
The goal is to make contact land on this landing page.
- Create a new standalone form to subscribe contacts. In this form, add the action "Modify contact's segments".
- Add the pending opt-in segment.
- Create a campaign starting with the pending opt-in segment.
- Send the opt-in email.
- Add a decision "Visits a page" and choose the landing page created.
- On the positive branch, add the action "Modify contact's segments".
- Add contacts into the opt-in confirmed segment and remove them from the pending opt-in.
Below what the campaign looks like:
All contacts that would go through one of these 2 scenario would be contact with a validated email address.
