In Webmecanik Automation, when a contact should no longer receive emails, they are assigned the "Do Not Contact" status. This status is visually indicated by a red badge displayed on their contact profile.
Β
Unsubscription can occur in two main ways:
- Independently by the contact: by clicking the unsubscribe link at the bottom of your email campaigns, or by managing their subscriptions through a dedicated page. To allow your contacts to adjust their preferences without completely unsubscribing, see our guide: How to create the preference center.
- Through a form action, from the Contacts tab, or with a campaign: directly from your Webmecanik Automation interface, in bulk or through a campaign scenario.

π« How do you unsubscribe a contact?
1. From a contact's profile
- Open the profile of the relevant contact.
- Click the arrow in the upper-right corner, next to the Close button, then select Preferences.
- In the Channels tab, uncheck the Email channel.
- Click Save and close: the contact immediately receives the red exclusion badge.
2. In bulk from the contact list
- Go to the Contacts menu.
- Check the boxes next to the contacts you want to unsubscribe.
- Open the green bulk actions menu at the top of the list, then click Set to do not contact.
3. Automatically in a campaign
You can include unsubscription in a marketing scenario:
- In the campaign builder, add an action and select Add "Do Not Contact" to automatically exclude the contact from the channel.
Β
π How do you resubscribe a contact?
When a contact who manually unsubscribed wants to receive your communications again, there are several ways to remove the exclusion:
Β
1. From the badge's X
If the contact was manually unsubscribed, you can directly click the red X on the "Do Not Contact" badge at the top of their profile to remove the status.
Β
2. From the contact profile preferences
- Open the contact's profile, click the arrow in the upper-right corner, and select Preferences.
- In the Channels tab, check the Email box again.
- Save the changes to add the contact back to your sending lists.
3. Automatically via a campaign
In a re-engagement scenario or internal workflow:
- Add a campaign action and select Remove the "Do Not Contact" status from the drop-down menu.
Β
4. Automatically via form submission
If a contact expresses their consent again (for example, by completing a re-subscription or white paper download form):
- Edit your form and go to the Actions tab.
- Click the Add a new submission actio... drop-down menu.
- Select the Remove from the list of contacts not to contact action.
- Save your form: each time it is submitted, the blocking status will be automatically removed.
Β
5. Resubscribe a contact with one click via their badge
To go even faster, you can reactivate a contact directly from their main profile, without having to open the preferences menu:
- Find the red badge corresponding to the relevant channel (for example, Do Not Contact: EMAIL or Do Not Contact: SMS).
- When you hover over the badge, a tooltip indicates the origin of the unsubscription (e.g., "The contact was manually unsubscribed from this channel").
- Simply click the small X (β) to the right of the badge: when you hover over it, the "Reactivate contact" action appears.
As soon as you click the X, the badge disappears instantly and the contact becomes eligible to receive your messages on that channel again.
