The tracking script is a key component to unlocking the full potential of Webmecanik Automation. Here is everything you need to know about what it does, how to retrieve it, and how to install it on your website.
What is the Tracking Script Used For? π―
Once installed on your website, this script acts as a direct bridge between your site and your Webmecanik instance. It serves three main purposes:
- π» Track Anonymous Visitors: It collects data and creates anonymous contacts for visitors browsing your website. Their browsing history is logged and saved until they are finally identified (usually by submitting a form).
- π΅οΈββοΈ Track Known Contacts: It identifies and tracks contacts already in your database, particularly those who reach your site by clicking a link in one of your emails or who identify themselves on the site.
- π Enrich Your Analytics: Thanks to this script, your "visited pages" metrics are populated and continuously enriched within your application.
How to Unlock and Find the Tracking Script π
To ensure tracking works correctly and is linked to your domain, the script is not displayed by default. You must complete a required configuration step first.
Step 1: Access your instance settings
Go to your Webmecanik portal. In the software card for Webmecanik Automation, click the gear icon to open your Settings.
π‘ Tip: You can also access it directly via URL:
[https://my.webmecanik.com/s/product/atmt/(Company](https://my.webmecanik.com/s/product/atmt/(Company) ID).Step 2: Set up your domain name
In the left sidebar menu, make sure you are in the Configuration tab. Look for the "Instance domain name management" section. This is where you need to configure the DNS entry for your custom subdomain.
Step 3: Retrieve and install the code
As soon as your DNS configuration is verified by the servers and its status changes to Active β
, the field updates and the tracking code automatically unlocks directly below.
All you need to do is copy the full code snippet (located between the
<script> tags) and paste it into your website's source code, at the bottom of your pages, right before the closing </body> tag.
