Do you need to know who modified a segment, when a maintenance task was last run, or check the most recent logins to your instance? The Change Log acts as your platform's "black box": it records key actions performed within your Webmecanik environment.
What is the "Change Log" data source?
The Change Log data source is available through the Reports tool. It provides a chronological list of system events and user-initiated actions. It is an essential tool for traceability and technical diagnostics.
What you can track:
Logins: Identify which user logged in and at what time.
Maintenance & Cleanup: Track automated tasks that optimize and clean your database.
Object Modifications: Keep a record of changes made to security entities, configurations, or content.
How to create a Change Log report
To access this data, follow these steps:
Navigate to the Reports section of your Webmecanik instance.
Click New to create a report.
In the "Details" tab, select the data source: Change Log.
Select the columns you wish to display (Action, Date Added, Details, Object, etc.).
Save and View the report.
Understanding the report columns
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Action | The type of event (e.g., login, maintenance, cleanup). |
| Date Added | The precise date and time of the event (Format: DD/MM/YYYY HH:MM). |
| Details | A technical field (JSON format) containing action parameters (e.g., user email or task options). |
| IP Address | The source IP address of the action (often masked for privacy). |
| Object | The system category impacted (e.g., security, core, maintenance). |
Expert Tips
1. Filter by Timeframe
The primary value of this report is searching by date. Use the Filters tab in your report to isolate a specific period (e.g., "Date Added > last 24 hours") to understand recent changes in your instance.
2. Identify the Actor
In the Details column, you will often find the "username" key. This allows you to confirm which team member performed a specific action, such as a login or a setting modification.
3. Monitor Instance Health
Lines labeled maintenance and cleanup in the Change Log confirm that Webmecanik’s automation scripts are running correctly to maintain database performance.
Note: Reports generated from the Change Log can become quite large. We recommend always applying a time filter to make the data easier to read.
