🛠️ Best Practices for Testing Your Automated Campaigns
Before launching a campaign to your entire database, it is essential to test your workflow to ensure all actions and conditions trigger as expected.
1. Set Up a Test Segment
Never run your first tests on live leads. Instead:
Create a dedicated "Test Segment": Use a clear name like "Test - [Campaign Name]".
Add test contacts: Include your own professional and personal email addresses.
Shorten your timers: To speed up the process, temporarily reduce your wait periods (e.g., change "3 days" to "5 minutes") so you can verify the sequence quickly.
2. Launching the Test
A campaign begins as soon as it is Published. Once you switch the status to "Published," the contacts in your test segment will immediately enter the workflow.
3. Avoiding Session Conflicts
To ensure accurate tracking and avoid "mixing" your admin session with your test contact’s data:
Log out: We recommend logging out of the Webmecanik Automation interface once the test starts.
Use Incognito Mode: When you receive a test email, always open links (for "Email Click" or "Page Visit" decisions) in a private/incognito browser window. This prevents your admin cookies from interfering with the tracking, ensuring clicks and visits are recorded correctly.
4. How to Restart a Test
By default, a contact cannot restart a campaign they have already completed. If you need to test a different branch or verify a fix:
Delete the test contact from the platform.
Re-create the contact manually.
Add them back to the test segment.
Note: Because the system sees this as a brand-new contact, they will be allowed to enter the campaign again.
