In Automation, contacts can have lots of different data. It goes through contact fields.
What are the different types of contact fields ?
To see the list of the contact fields in the instance, click on the gear at the top right corner then click on "Custom fields".
List of contact fields will be displayed.
It is possible to create new custom fields by clicking on "New".
When you create a new custom field, you will have to choose the name of the field, choose if it is a contact field or a company field and choose the type of the field.
Boolean : field that contain only 2 choices. A contact can only have 1 of the two values.
Date : date filed like this YYYY-MM-DD.
Date/time : date and time field like this YYYY-MM-DD hh:mm:ss.
Email : field that can contain only emails. @ is a mandatory caracter.
List - Country : display list of countries.
Locale : display list of different language of different areas.
Lookup : The goal is to have a field which can have thousands of options and users will be able to still select the ones they want. So the lookup field will display the options as they type instead of loading them at once.
Number : number type field.
Phone : phone type field.
Region : display list of different regions or department inside a country.
Select : define different values. Contacts can only have 1 of the different valuers.
Select - Multiple : define different values. Contacts can have many values (not only one).
Text : text field with a limit of 255 caracters.
Text area : text field with no caracters limit.
Time : time field type hh:mm:ss.
Timezone : list of the different timezone.
URL : field that contains URL.
